Rethymno- Gerani beach
Gerani beach is located 6 km west of Rethymnon and is a pebble bay that is affected by meltemia. This is a less organized beach and relatively quiet located near the city of Rethymnon.
There are many places that have rocks and for this reason it is preferred by spearfishers. However, this does not affect anyone to enjoy the waters, since they are deep blue and the sea inside has a sandy beach.
The beach is easily accessible by road, since right next to it passes the national road Chania-Rethymno, above the bridge of Gerani.
Near the bay are two springs that offer drinking water, while right next door is the picturesque church of Panagia Kamariani. A little further south, during the descent of the driver who enters from the National Road, is the cave of Gerani. This cave is one of the most important in Crete, its entrance is closed for security reasons.
The waters of the beach are quite cool from the springs located near the bay. Which makes swimming even more enjoyable during the month of August, since the high temperature warms up enough and the sea water during the day.
